The Safari Condo Alto R Series is one of the most recognizable lightweight travel trailer designs in Canada. It is compact on the road, easy to store, and surprisingly open once you step inside.
The big difference is the retractable roof. When the roof is down, the Alto R Series has a lower profile for towing and garage storage. When the roof is raised, the interior opens up with standing height, large windows, and tons of natural light.

The Alto R Series is the retractable-roof version of Safari Condo’s Alto travel trailer lineup. It is designed for campers who want something lightweight and easy to tow, but do not want to give up an enclosed cabin, a real dining area, a kitchen, sleeping space, and
bathroom functionality.
The R Series includes two main models:
Both models share the same general idea: a compact, aerodynamic travel trailer that can be stored more easily than a traditional full-height trailer. The roof raises when you arrive at camp, giving the interior a more open feel and better headroom.
The R1713 and R1723 are similar in size and purpose, but they serve slightly different campers.
The Alto R1713 is the better fit if you want the larger rear bed area and a simple, efficient layout. It has an extra-large rear bed space that can also be converted into two single beds. There is also a front dinette that can convert into an additional single bed, giving the trailer room to sleep three, with an optional four-person setup depending on configuration.
The Alto R1723 is the better fit if you want more self-contained comfort. Its rear bed is smaller than the R1713, but it adds an indoor shower with a curtain. For some buyers, that tradeoff is worth it. If you plan to camp longer, travel farther from full-service campgrounds, or want the convenience of an indoor shower, the R1723 may make more sense.
